Celebrating 10 years of barbering in Bicester
January 2018 is a special month in the life of Andy’s Barber Shop and 10th of January marks 10 years to the day that Andy’s Barber Shop first opened its doors in Sheep Street, Bicester. Owner and Barber, Andy Willis was the only one cutting that day and he did nine haircuts. 10 years later his shop is multi-award winning, has moved premises to a larger shop in Pioneer Square boasting 10 cutting stations, HDTV and a VIP room.
Andy, 40, who was born and raised in the Oxfordshire market town of Bicester, has brought a whole new level of Barber Shop to the town. His Pioneer Square shop is the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and a longstanding passion for barbering. In fact there has never been any doubt in Andy’s mind that this is what he would spend his life doing, and it goes all the way back to his childhood. To this day Andy recalls having his hair cut as a young boy and being asked by the barber what he wanted to be when he grew up. “A Barber,” Andy immediately replied. The barber said that if he still wanted to be a barber when he left school at 14, he’d give him a job. And that’s exactly what he did. Just over 30 years later, Andy Willis feels he has finally fulfilled his ultimate goal; creating a culture whereby the client is King.
